Currently in Dunedin and across Otago, there are opportunities to volunteer in the following programmes:
Van Driver - Club Enliven Dunedin - 3hrs per week
A volunteer van driver is required short term for 6 months. 9am - 10am and 3pm -4pm Tuesday, 9am -10am Wednesday.
We are looking for a volunteer to drive up to 7 older people from their homes to Club Enliven at 407 Moray Place, and collecting them from Club Enliven and taking them home at the end of the day.
We hope volunteers will enjoy enabling older people to live an active and social life. They will have the opportunity to be active, engage with older people and develop new friendships.
Volunteers are required to have a full clean drivers licence. Experience driving a fan is preferable however training will be given. Additionally volunteers should be friendly and reliable, have a caring and respectful attitude, be happy to chat to older people and be fully respectful of confidentiality.

Op Shop retail and warehouse volunteers - Dunedin
Are you passionate about shopping? Do you enjoy helping people find 'just what they're looking for'? Then this might be the role for you! We need retail assistants to work at one of our busy retail stores - Shop on Carroll or Op Shop on St Andrew. You'll be helping with displays, stocking shelves, serving customers, and keeping the shop clean and tidy.
Prefer to work behind the scenes? We have a warehouse and online shop based at Shop on Carroll. You'll be sorting and preparing donations for sale and pricing goods. Do you have a hobby, passion or interest? We encourage volunteers to work in an area of personal interest e.g. books, fabrics, vintage items, photography, modelling or ecommerce.
Various shifts available Monday - Saturday. 10am - 1pm or 1pm - 4/5pm. These role prefer volunteers that can make a minimum 6 month commitment or longer.
You need to be enthusiastic, honest, hard-working, a great communicator, and a team player.
You'll receive full training and will always be working with another person.
Profits from Shop On sales go back into the Otago community, helping to support the various Family Works services and programmes we offer. PSO does not offer a staff or volunteer discount, as prices are already low. Before staff and volunteers have the opportunity to make a purchase, items must be sorted, priced and have been on the shop floor for a set amount of time prior to purchase. A record of staff and volunteer purchases is kept in each shop.

Buddy Programme - all Otago. Urgently required in Dunedin, Clutha, Hawea.
We're looking for responsible adults who want to contribute positively to the life of a child. You'll spend time with a child who needs extra support from a reliable and consistent adult mentor, taking part in low- or no-cost activities, encouraging positive interests, attitudes, values, and behaviour.
You'll be matched with a child with similar to interests to yours, and you'll meet at a time which suits you both. There is extensive training, plus ongoing training and support, as well as the opportunity to take part in group activities with other Buddy pairs. Volunteers need to be at least 20 years of age and need to be able to spend 2-3 hours per week with their young buddy for at least 12months from the time you are matched. Club Enliven; Drivers or activity/kitchen assistants - Dunedin, Taieri and Alexandra
Do you have a car, drivers licence, and a little time to spare? You might like to help our Club Enliven members get to and from Club activities.
Social engagement and meaningful activity are essential to a healthy, happy life, no matter what your age. Club Enliven is for people over 65 years and offers a range of social activities including discussions, presentations from guest speakers, singing and music, craft, outings, cooking and meals. Many of our members are no longer able to drive and rely on volunteer drivers to assist them in getting to and from Club Enliven.
Dunedin driving volunteers are needed between 9-10am and 3-4pm on Tuesday, Wednesdays, and Fridays.
Taieri driving volunteers are needed between 9-10am and 3-4pm Monday to Fridays.
Activities/kitchen assistants are needed between 10am and 3pm on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays. This role requires a minimum 6 month commitment or longer.

Care Home Volunteer - St Andrews, 8 Easther Crescent, Kew, Dunedin
St Andrews offers hospital and rest home dementia care. We are always recruiting volunteers for variety of roles. From playing the piano to assisting residents on van outings. Gardening to writing letters, singing to sorting photos and everything in between. You might like to be a companion volunteer, you will be carefully matched with a resident and visit with them on a regular basis. Spend time chatting, help with a small project (e.g. sorting photos), go for a walk with them or whatever you choose.
Activity assistants help get residents to and from activites and assist with afternoon tea, happy hour and games.
We are looking for sociable, flexible volunteers who are physically capable of pushing an adult in a wheel chair.
All out volunteers roles really make a difference to the people we work with, helping them stay connected and keeping them active.

Ross Home - North East Valley, Dunedin
We are looking for volunteers to help out for a few hours in the afternoons, you could be spending time walking a resident around the gardens and local area, chatting to less mobile residents during activities or spending time visiting residents in the dementia unit.
Various times, 7 days a week.
