Monday 6 October 2025 marks a significant day for Presbyterian Support Otago (PSO) with the completion of the sale of Elmslie House and Wanaka Retirement Village to Windhaven Care Holdings Limited (trading as Alden). The sale Elmslie House and Wanaka Retirement Village follows the exit of PSO from the partnership and management agreement at Aspiring Care, and marks the end of PSO's involvement in aged-residential care within Wanaka.
“While the sale of Elmslie House and Wanaka Retirement Village to Alden marks the end of Presbyterian Support Otago providing aged-residential care in Wanaka, it does not signal the end of our involvement in this important community - our commitment to the Wanaka community remains strong,” says Robbie Moginie, CEO of Presbyterian Support Otago. "Our Family Works services remain based at the Wanaka Community Hub, providing critical social services to the local community, and in the future, we may explore opportunities for home based or day programme Enliven services for older people. We are certainly here to stay, just no-longer in aged-residential care."
With the completion of the sale, PSO continues to operate seven care homes providing a mix of rest home, hospital and secure dementia care within the Otago region, together with a range of day programmes for older people, including specific dementia focused programmes. PSO also provides Family Works services throughout the region, including in Alexandra and Wanaka, providing a range of social services including social work, financial mentoring, EnergyMate, parenting support, and children and youth programmes.
