Charity Op Shop volunteering

OpShopSocial, social enterprises that support our work.

In spring 2023 OpShopSocial embarked on a new venture and relocated to a new retail destination at 169 Princes Street (between Rattray and Dowling Streets), the change isn’t simply about location, it's a new way of taking sustainability and upcycling to the next level. The shop is a social hub where people can come together, enjoy company and achieve something at the same time.

OpShopSocial sells a fantastic range of good quality, pre-loved goods, with a focus on sustainability, reuse, recycling and help divert clothing from the landfill. Volunteers help sort, price and display a vast range of retro, vintage, pre-loved designer and contemporary items, providing something special for everyone and every budget.

With the help of donors, shoppers and volunteers, profits from Shop On sales go back into the Otago community, helping to support the various Family Works services and programmes we offer. There are a variety of volunteer roles: retail and customer service, e-commerce, sorting and pricing, creative displays and more.

If you have a unique interest or skill in any of the following then we will have a role for you: vintage and retro, collectables and antiques, bridal and weddings, creative displays, artistic and crafty, organising and sorting, researching, laughing and people.
