Services support children, young people and their families to be safe, strong and connected. Services include social work, foodbank, emergency response, financial mentoring, parenting support, youth development and community development programmes. Family Works volunteers are involved with the Buddy Programme, Stepping Stones and the Foodbank.
Adult mentors enrich children's lives with shared time. Children are matched with carefully selected, vetted and trained adult volunteers in a well-supported mentoring relationship.
Where: Oamaru, East Otago, Dunedin, Mosgiel, Clutha, Alexandra, Cromwell, Wanaka and Hawea.
Commitment: 2 - 3 hours per week or fortnight, 12 months. (We have a few young buddies where the time commitment can be flexible.)
When: On a day and time that suits you and your young Buddy.
Requirements: Must be 20 years old.
Day programme working alongside clients who are facing mental wellbeing challenges - to build their skills, assist them to make informed decisions, and connect them with their wider community. Volunteers help with arts, crafts, building, baking, shopping and social interactions. Have you got a skill you can teach someone?
Where: Dunedin only.
Commitment: Flexible, ongoing or short term project. 1-2 hours per week or fortnight.
When: Monday, Wednesday or Thursday.
Dunedin's busiest foodbank, volunteers put together 80-100 food parcels a week. Sort, count, record donations, break down donations, stack shelves and put together emergency food parcels.
