What: Encouraging and supporting residents to join in activities, helping with van outings.
When: 10am - 3pm, once a month or 6 weeks, as part of a roster of volunteers.
Where: Ranui, 4 Chapple St, Alexandra.
Activities assistant volunteers work alongside staff during outings and planned activities.
No two days are the same, 2 hours goes very fast and it's rewarding.
Volunteering can lead to a rush of euphoria and the release of endorphins, this effect is known as ‘helper’s high’!
Ranui offers rest home and hospital level care, with a secure dementia care unit, for up to 48 residents.
You must be friendly, reliable, trustworthy and have good communication skills.
Volunteers need to be physically capable of pushing wheelchairs and assisting with getting on and off the van.
Volunteers should have a natural interest in older people, have patience, a caring and respectful attitude and be happy working as part of a team.
As you will be stepping into the 'Home' of elderly people we take great care in who our volunteers are. All of our volunteers need to complete a Police Check and provide references. All volunteers will receive appropriate training and supervision for their role and will be required to sign a Code of Conduct.
5 hours once a month or once every 6 weeks.
Between 10am - 3pm.
Volunteers that can commit for at least 6 months or longer are preferred.
