Because many of Club Enliven members are no longer able to drive, they rely on volunteer drivers to assist them in getting to and from the Club - which provides important social interaction and activities for older people living alone.
Core responsibilities include:
Club Enliven is for people over the age of 65 years, it offers a range of social activities including discussions, presentations from guest speakers, singing and music, craft, outings, cooking and meals. Enjoy social engagement through this meaningful activity that is essential for a healthy, happy life, no matter what your age. You will have the opportunity interact, engage with older people and develop new friendships while helping them get to and from the Club.
You must be friendly, reliable, trustworthy and have good communication skills.
Volunteers need to be physically capable of pushing wheelchairs and assisting with moving furniture like chairs so residents can access and participate in activities.
Volunteers should have a natural interest in older people, have patience, a caring and respectful attitude and be happy working as part of a team.
As you will be driving to and from the 'Home' of elderly people we take great care in who our volunteers are. All of our volunteers need to complete a Police Check and provide references. All volunteers will receive appropriate training and supervision for their role and will be required to sign a Code of Conduct.
Available for 1-2 hours per week (or more often if you have the time).
Available between 9:30 - 10:30am and/or 3 - 4pm on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays.
People can volunteer for one or more shifts if they wish.
