What would you do?

Because many of Club Enliven members are no longer able to drive, they rely on volunteer drivers to assist them in getting to and from the Club - which provides important social interaction and activities for older people living alone.

Core responsibilities include:

  • Drivers can use their own legal/roadworthy vehicle, to pick up and drop off passengers, or they can use PS Otago's car or van which can be collected from Moray Place.
  • Driving members to and from Club Enliven.
  • Assisting members in and out of a van or car.
  • Happy to chat with people over the age of 65 - respectfully and confidentially.

Club Enliven is for people over the age of 65 years, it offers a range of social activities including discussions, presentations from guest speakers, singing and music, craft, outings, cooking and meals. Enjoy social engagement through this meaningful activity that is essential for a healthy, happy life, no matter what your age. You will have the opportunity interact, engage with older people and develop new friendships while helping them get to and from the Club.

Requirements | Checks you can expect

  • Full clean drivers license.
  • Your own legal/roadworthy vehicle (mileage reimbursed)
  • Or drive a Club Enliven car or van.
  • Physically capable of assisting elderly people in and out of a car or van.
  • Complete the Club Enliven safe driving assessment.

You must be friendly, reliable, trustworthy and have good communication skills.

As you will be driving to and from the 'Home' of elderly people we take great care in who our volunteers are. All of our volunteers need to complete a Police Check and provide references.
