What: Garden maintenance including weeding, pruning and tidying
When: flexible, 2 - 3 hours per week or fortnight.

What would you do?
Experienced Gardeners. St Andrews is looking for volunteers with an interest in gardening to keep the gardens and courtyard looking their best for residents to enjoy. This role would start in spring 2023, taking expressions of interest now. This would be suitable for a friend or two to do together.
Studies have recognised the benefits of gardens on our health, as well as our mental wellbeing. Especially beneficial for older people, when hobbies and activities may not be as simple to partake in as they once were. Walking and admiring gardens makes for healthier, happier living, no matter what your age.
Situated on a sunny site in Kew, South Dunedin, residents enjoy a variety of views, many overlooking adjacent parks, attractive gardens and courtyards.
St Andrews offers hospital and rest home dementia care for up to 78 residents.
This role would suit someone who is:
You must be friendly, reliable, trustworthy and have good communication skills.
Volunteers should have a natural interest in older people, have patience, a caring and respectful attitude and be happy working as part of a team.
As you will be stepping into the 'Home' of elderly people we take great care in who our volunteers are. All of our volunteers need to complete a Police Check and provide references. All volunteers will receive appropriate training and supervision for their role and will be required to sign a Code of Conduct.
2-3 hours per week, fortnight of month depending on your availability.
Monday through Sunday.
6 month or longer commitment.
