We are looking for volunteers to drive our van with residents to and from their social outings. Social engagement and meaningful activity are essential to a healthy, happy life, no matter what your age.
Iona is for people over 65 years and offers a range of social activities including discussions, presentations from guest speakers, singing and music, craft, outings, cooking and meals. There will also be an opportunity to be on a list to be called on to take residents to and from medical appointments.
You must be friendly, reliable, trustworthy and have good communication skills.
Volunteers need to be physically capable of pushing wheelchairs and assisting (particularly needed when taking residents on outings), assisting with getting on and off the van.
Volunteers should have a natural interest in older people, have patience, a caring and respectful attitude and be happy working as part of a team.
As you will be stepping into the 'Home' of elderly people we take great care in who our volunteers are. All of our volunteers need to complete a Police Check and provide references. All volunteers will receive appropriate training and supervision for their role and will be required to sign a Code of Conduct.
These outings are weekly on either Tuesdays or Thursdays and will be on a roster with other drivers.
To be eligible for this role, you need to be able to commit to a minimum of 6 months volunteering service or longer.
