What: Music, movement and activities assistant. Encouraging and supporting residents to join in music, movement and activities.
When: 9:30 -11:30am, Monday, Tuesday and Friday. One or more shift per week or fortnight.
Where: Aspiring Enliven Care Centre, 21 Cardrona Valley Road, Wanaka.
Work alongside staff engaging residents in conversation, encouraging and supporting residents to join in with music and movement. Helping staff with an activity like dominos, bingo or art.
Music and movement contributes to residents cognitive, physical, emotional, and social wellbeing. Residents also love chatting and having a laugh with volunteers, making conversation about things happening in the community.
You will receive full orientation and training, and you will always be working alongside staff.
No two days are the same, 2 hours goes very fast and it's rewarding.
Volunteering can lead to a rush of euphoria and the release of endorphins. This effect is known as ‘helper’s high’!
Aspiring Enliven Care Centre is purpose-built to capture the best of Wanaka's views and climate. This role is based in the Cardrona wing that offers rest home or hospital level care.
You must be friendly, reliable, trustworthy and have good communication skills.
Volunteers need to be physically capable of pushing wheelchairs and assisting with moving furniture like chairs so residents can access and participate in activities.
Volunteers should have a natural interest in older people, have patience, a caring and respectful attitude and be happy working as part of a team.
As you will be stepping into the 'Home' of elderly people we take great care in who our volunteers are. All of our volunteers need to complete a Police Check and provide references. All volunteers will receive appropriate training and supervision for their role and will be required to sign a Code of Conduct.
Two hours a week or fortnight or more frequently depending on your availability.
Between 9:30 and 11:30pm
Volunteers are needed Mondays, Tuesdays and Fridays. Let us know what day suits you.
Volunteers that can commit for at least 6 months or longer are preferred.
