Presbyterian Support Otago wants to acknowledge the very generous support of over 600 people in Otago who volunteer with us.
The thousands of hours that volunteers generously give, supporting a range of programmes and activities every single week, has significant impact on the lives of countless Otago residents and families.
Michael Parker, Chief Executive, said volunteers play a central role to the contribution that Presbyterian Support Otago makes to support positive change, strong families and healthy communities.
“We have so many talented and generous volunteers who work with us right across Otago. As we celebrate National Volunteer Week, I want to thank each one of our volunteers for the very special contribution they make in their local community. You have hearts of gold, and we think you are incredible!”
“Some people have been volunteering for decades and others have been involved for a few weeks. We have volunteers who do something every week, and others who assist us occasionally or with short term activities.”
“Volunteers are central to our Buddy programme, Shop On charity shops, YouthGrow, Club Enliven, Visiting Volunteers, Stepping Stones, and the Family Works food bank, to name a few of the services they support.”
Presbyterian Support Otago has plenty of opportunities for anyone who are keen to become involved as a volunteer.
Food bank volunteer Audrey Clarke endorses the value of volunteering,” To anyone considering volunteering, that has some free time, I say give volunteering a go. Everyone can get something out of volunteering, no matter your background. The team here make it so worthwhile and we always have a bit of a laugh.”
