The walls of Ross Home’s large entrance lounge were recently transformed for a special exhibition showcasing artwork created by residents.
Led by local artist and Ross Home Activity Coordinator, AJ Solomon, residents learned watercolour painting techniques while discovering the many benefits that creative activity can bring.
The exhibition featured a range of artworks, including beautiful pounamu paintings created to mark Matariki.
As part of the activities programme, art is used to support residents’ wellbeing by encouraging creativity, focus and self-expression.
Painting helps residents maintain fine motor skills and hand coordination. The regular classes also provide opportunities to stay active and engaged, reflecting Enliven’s philosophy that activity is an important part of wellbeing.
Residents took great pride in displaying their work, enjoying the recognition and positive feedback received from family, friends, visitors and staff.
A heartfelt thank you goes to AJ Solomon for sharing her talent and enthusiasm, helping residents build confidence and develop their skills.
