This year’s Runway Revival competition sees forty‑four designers preparing for this year’s Runway Revival Show. There they will showcase original runway looks created from opshop finds.
For contestant Margaretha Situmorang, last year’s entry was shaped by a simple but thoughtful question: why should something meaningful only be worn once? The 2025 design drew inspiration from the wedding dress — a garment often worn for a single day, despite the time, cost, and emotional significance behind it.
Margaretha set out to challenge that idea by reimagining the wedding dress as something reusable and adaptable, designed to be worn again in different ways and for different occasions. The piece balanced sentiment with practicality, showing how fashion can honour important moments without being limited to them.
“A wedding ceremony is a momentous occasion in one’s life,” Margaretha shared. “Being able to relive that moment many times would be a great investment.”
After creating one of last year’s standout designs, Margaretha returns to in 2026 as a must‑watch contestant — and you’ll be able to see her work, along with the creativity of this year’s full designer lineup, live on the runway.
Runway Revival is more than a fashion show — it’s a chance to support meaningful work in our community. Tickets are on sale now, and we’d love to see you there.
