Welcome to our summer edition of People magazine. There is definitely a change in mood as the days get longer and Christmas is around the corner. At this time of year, it feels right to pause and appreciate all the wonderful people behind the work of PSO. 2024 has been a year of many changes and challenges, yet staff like Louise from Stepping Stones and volunteers like Joy and Murray (read Volunteer Voice) continue to work together to make our community stronger.
I loved Joy’s comment about “paying back kindness”, which is at the heart of a thriving community. This year, more than most, our team are grateful for the steadfast support and encouragement from our wider community – a constant reminder that we are not alone. Thank you to parishes like the Mornington Church whose gifts continue to ease pressure and give hope to families in need. Thank you to all our Enliven residents like Maurice Hale (read Maurice's story) and parents Nicki and Craig (read Parenting with a Purpose), who trust us to build places of support, learning and connection across all stages of life.
Thank you to our wonderful neighbours - First Church, whose regular support during the tougher moments of this year has reinforced our own resilience and hope. And thank you of course to the sponsors, donors and givers without whom we could not have met the growing need for PSO services. To all of you, we wish you a holiday season full of some of the love, kindness, connection and joy you have shared with us during 2024.
Ngā mihi
