New volunteers join our team

We are excited to announce a new set of volunteer roles within our church communities – PSO Mission Advocates.

Our mission advocates will help us to strengthen and grow the connection between PSO, their church and the wider community. Sharing stories that make a difference in people’s lives, as well as sharing their needs and that of their communities with PSO. We would love more Mission Advocates, if you are interested in volunteering on behalf of your church community please email team@psotago.org.nz

Joy Davis, Mission Advocate, East Taieri Church

Joy

After three incredible years, as Community Relations Advisor it is time for me to embark on my next life chapter. My time at PSO has been extremely rewarding, filled with good memories of amazing people, across Otago, who turn up every day to serve others.

I will still have a link to PSO, as the Mission Advocate representing East Taieri Church, joining other

Mission Advocates from Mornington, Dunedin South, Coastal Unity, Batch, Maungatua and Lawrence/Waitahuna churches. My focus on community service remains, I look forward to having more time to dedicate to that, and to working alongside you all. Thank you for your support over the past three years, as we undertake this next chapter, with God’s help, we will continue to make difference, together!

Jo Sime, Mission Advocate, Trinity Community Church

Jo

I’m Jo Sime, a member of Trinity Community Church (Maungatua Presbyterian Church – Outram) and work for Presbyterian Support Otago as their Quality Advisor for the Enliven Team, a role I have had for the last twelve years. I live in Outram with my husband on our farm and have two children, one who lives in Dunedin and one in Christchurch.

I was nominated by the Trinity team to be their Mission Advocate as this is a role I currently have been doing by default as I have been a liaison between PSO and our church since becoming employed at PSO. Being able to share and support the work that PSO does is a privilege and I look forward to continuing to share both to Trinity team and also to PSO how we can support each other in the mission and work that PSO does.

Claire Radford, Mission Advocate, Dunedin South Presbyterian Church

Claire

I’m Claire Radford, a member of Dunedin South Presbyterian Church (St James) and a retired Resource Teacher of Learning and Behaviour (RTLB). Married to Craig, with four adult children and six delightful grandchildren; faith and family have always been central to my life.

It’s a privilege as a Mission Advocate to help strengthen the connection between PSO, our church family and the wider community. Faith, for me, is best expressed through caring for others, and this role provides many opportunities to do just that — to share stories of hope, kindness, and practical support that make a real difference in people’s lives.

Walking alongside others, listening, and offering encouragement brings a deep sense of purpose. Seeing God’s love in action through Presbyterian Support reminds us daily how small acts of compassion can have a lasting impact.

“And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.” — Romans 8:28
